Thought I would post something on how to get yourself started on your very own display.
First, here is the 16 channel controller. It comes complete and ready to assemble. It’s very easy and no soldering is required. Just some hand tools. This is a good alternative if you don’t want to pay the full price for a pre-assembled product:
Here is the software you will need. You can download a free demo to take a look how it works:
Although not required, I recommend one of these. This eliminates the need to have a full blown computer run the show. It works great!
You have alot of choices with FM transmitters. Ramsey has a nice cost effective PLL transmitter that you can put together. You can also buy them already assembled on E-Bay:
This is the FM25: http://www.ramseyelectronics.com/cgi…tion&key=FM25B
If you want a step up, the FM30 is a great transmitter with all controls on the front panel: http://www.ramseyelectronics.com/cgi…tion&key=FM30B
As with the other transmitter, you can also purchase it on E-Bay pre-assembled.
This one is cheap but I can’t vouch for how well it works:
The main thing about a transmitter is to make sure it has PLL (Phase Lock Loop) circuitry. Transmitters without PLL tend to drift making it difficult for some digital car stereos to lock in to the signal. I had a non-PLL transmitter last year and it was a pain in the butt. I had to constantly re-adjust the output frequency to keep it tuned correctly.
The rest is just extension cords, lights and lots of time to create the lighting sequences. You can find lighting sequences for download but most of the time they won’t match your particular configuration.
